Nigerian Candidate Wins United Nations General Assembly Presidency

Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, Nigeria’s permanent representative to the global organization, has emerged president of the 74th international organisation General Assembly.

Muhammad-Bande, sole candidate for the position, emerged through plaudits at the 87th comprehensive meeting of the Assembly in the big apple on weekday.

He is the second Nigerian to carry the workplace when Joseph Garba, a retired military man and diplomat, UN agency semiconductor diode the organ between 1989 and 1990.

He are inaugurated in Sept. President Muhammadu Buhari had appointed Muhammad- Bande as Nigeria’s representative to the international organisation on March thirty one, 2018.

He was born on Gregorian calendar month seven, 1957, in Zagga, contemporary Kebbi State.

He received a BSc in politics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1979, MA in politics from Hub of the Universe University, USA in 1981; and a pH scale.D in politics from University of provincial capital, Canada, in 1987.

He was the vice-chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto between 2004 and 2009. He served because the director-general of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies NIPSS) from 2010 to 2016.

He served because the vice-president of the final assembly throughout the 71st session.

A recipient of the national honour of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), Tijjani Muhammad-Bande is married with four youngsters.
